June 21, 2000 -
It's been a long time coming (like any updates on these pages), but before you give up on the site being too much behind the times, I hope you'll enjoy a brief interview made exclusively to this site, by kind courtesy of the author.

K. W. Jeter interview, April 1999

If you are coming here thanks to the popular Star Wars/Boba Fett books, you might enjoy an interesting article by a reader (and writer), Susan Mayse: The Tao of Boba Fett. And on the publishing front, the fourth Blade Runner book, Beyond Orion, is finally set to be published in September 2000. More details as they come.

October 22, 1999 -
My apologies for not updating this site for quite a while. I hope to do some design changes in the near(ish) future as well as hopefully have some interesting items appear after a long delay. In the meanwhile though, I simply must recommend you spend some time at John Berlyne's Tim Powers website, which not only has a pre-publication excerpt from his next novel, but also a long (and I mean LONG) interview where Tim and John discuss his life and works, including the times at Cal State Fullerton with KWJ, Jim Blaylock and Phil Dick. Fascinating, insightful and funny.

May 29, 1999 -
I'm back from my vacation, and having located a couple of the missing books (with many thanks to Richard Young of the excellent bookstore in Louisville; All Booked Up), I've added pages for MADLANDS and WOLF FLOW. More to come.

May 2, 1999 -
I've added to and updated the bibliography pages.

Some of the book pages still have some glitches into them, and I've not yet worked at all on the tie-in pages, but most of the site should be running fairly smooth now.

May 1, 1999 -
The Locus Online pages have information on the next Blade Runner book, titled "Beyond Orion". It is scheduled to be published in October in the UK by Orion/Gollancz.

April 25, 1999 -
There have been no updates here in a while, as I've been rather busy. I'll be taking a trip to the US between May 9 and May 27, so the plan is to have a rather long-time-in-coming update here before that happens. I have started making changes to all the individual bookpages so that they should be much more pleasant to look at - you can look at the first few starting here.

Another thing that I've been queried on quite a few occasion, is the book ALLIGATOR ALLEY - I'll add some info on it here later on. The gist of it is that it was written by Tim Ferrett, not KWJ, nor Tim Powers or William Gibson, as various internet databases claim.

Also, I had some problems with my e-mail in the past few months, and may have lost some that has been sent to me through the form on these pages.

January 12, 99 -
This site has been completely redesigned. To start at the beginning try this.

There may well be some bugs in the code, so if you come across any annoying mistakes, please let me know so I can correct them. Some of the individual bookpages have been changed already to work in the new environment, while some look still pretty lousy. These should be corrected within this week.

I have also added a guestbook, where you can leave comments and suggestions.

The second, successful chat with K. W. Jeter was conducted at the excellent Event Horizon webzine. The transcript should be available here in a couple of days. You can also look up the first chat, conducted on November 5th, 1998, which ended prematurely. The conversation about NOIR and related issues is excellent, and echoes (if not surprisingly) some of the areas covered in the the second chat.

If you are interested in more traditional noir literature, you might enjoy the works of Charles Willeford, an excellent writer of pulp-noir. Also, the CW site is probably close to the future look of these pages. Stay tuned.

January 6, 99 -
I finished reading NOIR and I've scribbled down some somewhat random notes and thoughts about it here.

January 1-3, 99 -
I've updated and re-designed the page for NOIR, adding quotes and a new cover image. Some other book pages are slowly being transformed into similar shapes. I've also added a new cover image to the EDGE OF HUMAN page, kindly provided by Etienne Barillier.

There is a new review of NOIR at the SF Site web-pages, that you should try out. They kindly link to this site from the review. And I'm finally reading the book too, after the busy holidays, and enjoying myself quite a bit. Should get one more review here soon after I finish it.

KWJ is also re-scheduled for a chat at Ellen Datlow's exceptional webzine, Event Horizon next Thursday, Jan 7th. See the link for more info.

Also a small technical note regarding these pages: everything here is done with Netscape 4.5, though they SHOULD work with any other browser, including Lynx. But for optimal use, try Netscape. If you have problems, or the pages look odd, let me know and I'll see what I can do.

And finally a plug for another author page I just put up; Charles L. Harness.

Some of you may have noticed that I included a statistics-counter to the first page of this site; including such is a good way of measuring where the traffic to the site comes from. I had it there for about 3 weeks or so, and most of the visitors in this period came from the Official KWJ site or personal bookmarks. While this site is included in various lists on the net, it's not yet in any very visible ones. Once I have managed to get listed elsewhere, I will probably do another survey.

Yet; I'm not at all certain if I'm comfortable with having such a counter here as it does pose some questions about privacy - so if/when I do put the counter back here, you can choose to avoid being 'counted' by simply changing your bookmark to any other page but the opening one. (that is, http://www.saunalahti.fi/~jtlin/kwj/index.html is the one the counter will be on, while using for example this page: http://www.saunalahti.fi/~jtlin/kwj/kwj-new.html will not get you listed there)

I've also finally gotten the copy of NOIR, and have begun reading it - I plan to include a review here as soon as I finish it. It's looking good, though, I can tell you that much.

November 29, 98 -
Okay - the page is slow with updates, but thanks to Jim Goddard (you should try out his Brian Aldiss pages) I now have a bunch of new covers added to several of the bookpages: DR. ADDER, INFERNAL DEVICES, FAREWELL HORIZONTAL and IN THE LAND OF THE DEAD.

I also hope to get a copy of NOIR soon and after I've managed to read that, I'll include a review. There are several reviews on the net and it's very consistently getting good ones. I have one on the above-linked book-page, and there's one at the N.Y. Times page. Also at the latest issue of SciFi Weekly.

November 1, 98 -
I've added a page for NOIR - you can also access a review through the page.

Yesterday at the SciFi Channel website, at the online sf convention, KWJ did a reading of NOIR (a realaudio file)- I don't know if the recording will be made available after the con is over, but if you're curious about the book it's definitely illuminating. I'm even more eager to read it now..

October 25, 98 -
There is now an excerpt of NOIR available at the K. W. Jeter Information Site, as well as a listing of upcoming appearances.

There is now a form here which you can use to leave me messages straight from your web-browser. You can leave out your name or email, but if you do include them I will answer all queries the best I can - also all suggestions, wishes and comments are most appreciated.

October 22, 98 -
Some good news here, though no updates yet: there is a K. W. Jeter short story available at the Event Horizon website; Black Nightgown. Event Horizon is also hosting weekly chats with interesting authors, and KWJ will be there on Thursday, November 5 at 10 to 11:30 p.m. Eastern time.

KWJ's new book, NOIR, the first original publication since 1992's WOLF FLOW, will be hitting the stores in about two weeks' time. What I've heard of it sounds very intriguing; I'll add a page about it here soon.

September 08, 98 -
Oh well, I guess I again must merely note that there is nothing new in here - I suppose the next thing will be the inclusion of material about NOIR, which sounds like a fascinating book. When I manage to get a copy I'll also include a review of it to the pages.

Some bookstores on the web already list the next STAR WARS book on their pages, so that should be out pretty soon too. The few reviews I've read about the first one have been wildly mixed (as one can expect on the net, and especially on a book based on such a familiar setting).

K. W. Jeter will be attending the Death Equinox '98 con in October 1st-4th, in Denver, Colorado. Among the participants are Don Webb and Rev. Ivan Stang of the SubGenius folk, so if you're around that way it seems like it'll be a blast worth attending.

August 18, 98 -
Still nothing new here, but the new online magazine Event Horizon - edited by Ellen Datlow, just opened their pages and they also mention that a KWJ short-story is forthcoming. Whether this is a reprint or something brand new, I don't know. The magazine looks and reads good.

August 03, 98 -
Nothing new here yet, but I just found a cover scan of the upcoming NOIR on the net - try here. Looks pretty nice. I'll include some material about it as soon as possible.

July 10, 98 -
No updates recently, have been busy re-building my other author page. I should get off my ass and finish up the bio sketch next, but no promises as to when I manage to do that.

June 26-29, 98 -
Filling up the book pages (DR. ADDER and DS9: BLOODLETTER included).

June 25, 98 -
Building the rest of the book pages.. see the bibliography for details. I've now included information about all the novels I have in English, except for the DS9 book. I probably will do some sort of pages for the rest of the books also, each depending on the material I have or find. I'll also do a page for MR. E as soon as I find the issue that I've misplaced! (..and I would be interested in purchasing any missing items from the list, if the price is sensible. MADLANDS in particular)

Should you have any information, insights, reviews, thoughts etc to share, I will gladly consider any and all suggestions to the site.

June 23, 98 -
No new bookpages today, but fixed some links from the intro page straight to the book titles, as well as some small corrections here and there. I should get all the bookpages ready during this week (for the ones I have material to create them, that is).

June 22, 98 -
Started with the individual book pages - the look will probably change at some point, but the structure is there as is part of the content. You can get to them from the bibliography page (where I also updated the interview section).

June 12, 98 -
Added this page.

There will most likely be no updates next week as I'm taking a brief vacation. Next thing should be finishing the biographical piece and perhaps starting up individual pages for all the books.

June 9-10, 98 -
Fine tuning; trying out new graphics and making small corrections.

June 4-8, 98 -
These pages are slowly approaching something like a cohesive shape - I will be adding small information here and there as I have the time to either search for it or write it.

These comments are from the previous updates page..

June 3, 98 -
Building the smaller K.W. Jeter site after all - originally conceived in November '97; there is now an introduction/biographical part as well as a bibliography with some brief reviews.

November, 97 -
I've also started building a K.W. Jeter page, which will take some time.
