Why bother upgrading? Early website development was hindered by competing browsers offering differing standards. The only solution to this was to use bloated code that not only increased download times, but also made content inaccessible to blind and disabled users.
Current UK legislation requires that websites are accessible to blind and disabled users. The only way to ensure such access is to use Standards-Compliant code, and the best way to access that code is for us all to use Standards-Compliant browsers.
